Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey announced seven successful projects in Grey under the first round of the fund today and welcomed the Federal Government’s continued commitment to regional Australia.

“The two successful projects in Port Lincoln are focussed on increasing business opportunities and security.

“One project run by the South Australian Employers Chamber of Commerce and Industry will receive $63,150 to run a series of regional events to develop a Regional Strategic Chamber Plan focused on increasing business activity and jobs.

“In support of regional South Australia, these free events will be open to all Business SA members and regional area stakeholders.

“The other successful project is $19,800 toward a project being run by Eyre Futures Inc which will focus on identifying and documenting challenges across the region and industry sectors and recommendations with regard to the development of the Tod Reservoir which may include sustainable recreational fishery linking benefits to the community as a whole and  in particular, business and tourism.

“I’m really pleased to see these projects win funding from the Building Better Regions Fund.

“This announcement is a real boost for Port Lincoln.

“Rejuvenating business and invigorating enthusiasm will benefit the entire community.

“Without the Building Better Regions Fund, these community investment projects often struggle to get funding.”

Minister for Regional Development Fiona Nash said the Building Better Regions Fund Community Investment Stream was investing $6.9 million in community projects throughout regional Australia.

“I aim to help build the kinds of regional communities our children and grandchildren either want to stay in or come back to. These projects help to do that.”

The Building Better Regions Fund is investing $500 million to foster economic growth in rural, regional, and remote communities.
