SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE IN KADINA AT THE

Today’s opening of the redeveloped Copper Coast Sport and Leisure Centre in Kadina, South Australia, will boost community participation in sport and cultural events.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Michael McCormack said the upgraded centre will now cater to the increasing local demand for modern sport and leisure facilities designed to host local, district, regional and state competitions.
“The new $10.4 million centre includes the construction and fit-out of a new indoor stadium, including an indoor basketball court, an upgraded gymnasium and squash courts as well as a conference room, a children’s nursery, kiosk, consulting rooms, upgraded reception and fitness areas and the resurfacing and paving of the carpark,” Mr McCormack said.
Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey said the redeveloped centre has been designed and upgraded to meet the future demands of the people of the Copper Coast area.
“When the Kadina and District Recreation Centre opened over 40 years ago it was a facility that all regional towns would have been thrilled to have. However, over the years, the need for an upgrade became evident and I commend the Coalition Government for reinvesting in the Copper Coast Sport and Leisure Centre and committing more than $4.8 million to the project,” Mr Ramsey said.
“The Government understands the value of rural and regional Australia and I am so pleased this facility is here for the people of the Copper Coast to use and enjoy.”

Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government John McVeigh said the project created more than a dozen jobs during construction and will support up to 35 ongoing jobs into the future.
“It’s all part of the Coalition Government’s plan to create more jobs, drive economic growth and build stronger regional communities across Australia,” Dr McVeigh said.
South Australian Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing Corey Wingard said the revamped centre will provide a local focal point for cultural and community activities.
“Aside from sport, this facility provides the space and infrastructure required to stage plays and concerts and will provide the nearby Kadina Memorial School with a new indoor stadium to hold their assemblies in,” Minister Wingard said.
Copper Coast Mayor Paul Thomas said the new leisure centre has excited our local community and provides sporting facilities for the region.
“Copper Coast Sport and Leisure Centre is an icon the whole community can now be doubly proud of. The community will cherish this facility for its contribution to our way of life and our physical and mental wellbeing,” Mayor Thomas said.
The project is jointly funded with the Federal Liberal and Nationals’ Government investing
$4,804,456, the South Australian Government $2,900,000, and the District Council of the Copper Coast $2,737,520.
Ends.
