Posted on Thursday, 4 October, 2018
Communities in the Grey electorate are being urged to
apply for a share in $200 million under a third round of the Australian
Government’s Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF).
Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey said regional tourism,
infrastructure and local jobs are front and centre in this funding round.
“I’m pleased that the regional and remote communities in
my electorate have an excellent opportunity to apply for grants under Round 3
of the BBRF,” Mr Ramsey said.
“This funding round is a great chance to get local
infrastructure and community-building projects off the ground.
“We have had fantastic outcomes over the first two
funding rounds of the Coalition Government’s BBRF and I expect Round 3 to
deliver more of the same with up to $45 million earmarked to increase tourism.
“Tourism is a vital component of regional communities,
driving jobs growth and many economic benefits.”
Mr Ramsey said already
organisations and communities in Grey have benefitted by almost $40m through
these funding streams.
“Under previous rounds Peterborough received almost $9m
funding to build a reticulated waste water management system,” he said.
“Kadina was successful in securing almost $5m to upgrade
its sporting facilities and Port Pirie’s Regional Sports Precinct received $5m.
“These are amongst
many projects in Grey which have been enabled through Federal Government
“These projects drive
economic growth and deliver lasting benefits to the local community.
“I urge all communities in my electorate to consider
putting forward their strong project proposals.”
Applications close on 15 November 2018. Further
information on eligibility and how to apply is available at http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/bbrf.
