Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey said he is pleased to announce more support for older Australians following the announcement of a capital grant of $3m for Willochra Home for the Aged in Crystal Brook.
“This announcement is great news for Willochra Home which is an exemplary facility providing top class care for its residents,” he said.
“The funding also comes with the announcement of eight extra aged care places for the facility and another 25 across Grey.
“I am really pleased the Government is investing more in regional aged care.”
Mr Ramsey said Willochra’s development plans are very exciting and having extra places in the home will enable more people to stay close to their family and community.
“The capital grant will be used to purchase land adjacent to home to build two eight-bed “cottage model” wings,” he said.
“One cottage will be used for new places and one cottage to house existing residents from a repurposed wing which will be extensively remodelled.
“Plans include a new nurse station and adding new communal and dining areas.
“The new areas will improve the safety of residents and give them the ability to move freely.
“I have long been advocating with Aged Care Minister Ken Wyatt on behalf of regional aged care providers and it is great the Government is investing more in supporting providers who support older Australians living in rural and remote area.
“The capital works which will take place at Willochra Home will not only lead to bigger and better aged care services, they will support local construction jobs and businesses.
“Improving and expanding local residential facilities and aged care services is fundamental to keeping our communities strong.”
