Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey encourages young people at the forefront of agriculture to apply for the next round of Federal Government Science and Innovation Awards grants which are now open.
Individual grants of up to $22,000 are available for the sharpest young minds across multiple categories for young people in agriculture, fisheries and forestry
Mr Ramsey said the 2021 Science and Innovation Awards would help bring the next generation of big ideas to life, with projects sought from 18-35 year old researchers, scientists, innovators and others active in the agriculture sector.
“The Science Awards encourage young scientists, researchers, innovators and others active in the agriculture sector who have an original and innovative project that will contribute to the ongoing success and sustainability of Australia’s agriculture, fisheries and forestry industries,” he said.
“The Science Awards have already helped many young Australians make their ideas a reality and showcase their talent to the world.”
There are ten industry Science Award categories open for applications: biosecurity and digital innovation; cotton; eggs and poultry (layers); forest and wood products; grains; meat and livestock; red meat processing; viticulture and oenology; and wool.
Each category includes a $22,000 grant, and is generously supported by the research and development corporations and industry organisations as our Science Award partners.

Since they were launched in 2001, the Science and Innovation Awards have helped 261 young researchers, innovators and scientists turn their ideas into reality with just over $4 million in grant funding.
