The Booleroo Centre Lions Club will be able to install state of the art cooking equipment in a new catering van with funding of $2,625 through Round 4 of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program (SCP).
Federal Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey said he is very pleased the funding will enable the club to install equipment for catering activities.
“The Lions club is famous for its travelling food van which can be seen at many community functions and is also used in cases of natural emergencies to cater for volunteers,” Mr Ramsey said.
“Having modern, well-equipped kitchen facilities in the van will make it easier for members to churn out the great tucker they are known for and will also improve safety and operation convenience for them.”
“So often what is a relatively modest amount of money can make a huge difference to local volunteer groups. Certainly this scheme, Stronger Communities Program, is a winner in every way providing valuable assistance to regional communities.”
The Coalition Government’s Stronger Communities Programme offers grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 for small capital projects.
