Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey has announced the Cummins AH&F Society will be undertaking a major upgrade of the Show Pavilion as a result of a $38,555 grant from the Federal Government’s highly successful Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF).
“I had been approached while back by committee President Raymond Whillas about the possibility of Federal assistance to revamp the Show Pavilion”, Mr Ramsey said. “I am pleased that under the BBRF they have been successful.”
“I thought the show last year was one of the best I have seen in recent years and expect this to be a real shot in the arm.”
“The pavillion has a long local history and is structually sound, with this refit it is likely to be used for at least another 50 years”, he said. “The works will also expand the number organisations and events that will be able to utilise the facility.
“The total cost of the project is $51k and I am sure the committee will be able to source their 25% share without too much trouble, as Cummins has a proven record as a can-do community.
“The Building Better Regions Fund has delivered almost $4m to Grey in this current round and will take the total delivered out of this program and its predessor to more than $40m since we came to government in 2013,” Mr Ramsey said.” It underscores our commitment to rural Australia.”
“We are supporting our regions through investing in important local infrastructure and Australia wide more than $70 million from this round of $200mhas been allocated for regional tourism”, Mr Ramsey said. This has been a boost to operators who have been calling for a stronger commitment to grow our regional tourism.
“We have seen fantastic outcomes from the first two rounds and I have been very happy with the funding that has made its way into Grey communities.
