A Green Power Festival will be staged in Port Augusta after Member for Grey Rowan Ramsey announced last week that Port Augusta Business Incorporated grant application has been successful. The $19,999 grant from the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund will enable the city to hold a Green Power Festival that will draw a further renewable energy focus to the area.
“Port Augusta has become the epicentre of activity in renewable energy in Australia”, Mr Ramsey said. “It is exciting that there is such momentum that Business Port Augusta have decided to lever off the wave of enthusiasm to run a festival. It will work to draw even more eyes to the city.”
“Certainly now we are looking at the “second wave” of investment which will concentrate more on storage than generation and we are in a good position to provide that”, he said. “I anticipate it will also have a spin-off for the tourism industry and focus on employment opportunities.
“I am pleased Port Augusta Business Incorporated was successful in securing funding,” Mr Ramsey said. And I look forward to the event and willing to help where I can.
The Federal Government is showing a strong commitment to the regions with supporting opportunities and ideas. I have been very happy with the over $40 million brought to this electorate through the BBRF and the previous program since we have been in government. Mr Ramsey said
